Does faith play a part in recovery?
Studies have shown that faith empowers recovery. Believing in a higher power encourages emotional and physical change in the way of one’s life. Being a person of faith can lower the risk of alcohol and drug abuse, and can determine the way one handles life’s challenges.
Being a person of faith can also encourage personal improvement. Happiness, peacefulness, and a new outlook on life are some examples of how being faithful improves one’s way of life. Faith allows letting go of past struggles to come easier for some people, whereas being a non religious affiliated person could make that challenge a bit more difficult. These improvements are important in long-term sobriety.
